...You captured the essence and realities of marriage. It is work! It's good when it's good but it is WORK! I've lived with your characters and I must say you did a great job of portraying them to your reading audience...

Being able to relate to events in the story makes for enjoyable reading. The author is very descriptive. The story is filled with lots of imagery as a young girl seeks her heartfelt desire. LaShar's travels to the South leads her on an adventure that could become a wistful moment but turns into a blissful lifelong reality. This is a must read for all ages!

About the author...

After an exacerbation of Multiple Sclerosis compromised her legs in October 2003, Jocelyn was forced to retire from nursing. Her legs were challenged, but her mind and hands worked just fine. Bored at home, she returned to school at Northwest Florida State College and earned a Certificate in Marketing Operations. Driving in her car, a still, small voice she calls the Holy Spirit, encouraged her to take a creative writing class. She’d only written an annual Christmas letter that people came to expect. Out of her element, she heeded, got bitten by the writer’s bug, and has been writing ever since.

2016 Northwest Florida State College Blackwater Review Editor’s Prize for Poetry Recipient.

1st Place Award Winner of NWFSC James & Christian LaRoche Memorial Poetry Contest for 2016, and 2nd Place Winner 2017.

Jocelyn lives in the Panhandle, Florida, but grew up in "the motor city," Detroit, Michigan. Happily married to her husband, Carl, a.k.a. "Honey," she spent 23 years as an Air Force spouse. They are proud parents of 4 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, a partner, 7 grandsons, and 4 granddaughters. She loves Jesus Christ, the arts, yoga, and spends a great deal of time reading and honing her craft.
